Coach Melanie grew up swimming at NWSC where she fell in love with the sport. She swam for Upper Arlington and Westerville Aquatic club in USA swimming and at Bishop Watterson High School. An unfortunate knee injury prevented her from swimming in college. Melanie rejoined NWSC when her three children were young to enjoy all that Northwest has to offer. They have grown up with a love for the water. Her daughter Skylar swims with thr senior group. Melanie was an assistant coach for five years before taking over as head coach in 2019. Coach Melanie took on the role of an assistant coach at
Central Ohio Aquatics in the fall of 2021 and will now be coaching year round! In the off season from NWSC she is a first grade teacher at St. James the Less School in Columbus. Coach Melanie's contact information is at the bottom.
Head Dive Coach: Chloe Merriss
Coach Chloe grew up in Westerville and was active in gymnastics. An injury took her out of gymnastics and she tried diving for the first time her freshman year of high school and fell in love! She dove all four years for Westerville Central and went on to dive in college at the University of Cincinnati. When not coaching summer dive for the Tigersharks she works in Operations and HR for 16 Great Clips Salons. She loves to travel and lives in Clintonville with her two dogs Daisy and Bodie.
Coach Cortney grew up at NWSC just like Coach Melanie. She began swimming at the age of 5 and also swam for Upper Arlington's USA team and Bishop Watterson. Cortney has been coaching at NWSC as an assistant coach since 2014. In the off-season Cortney is a special education teacher in Southwestern City Schools. She married her husband Tom in November 2019 and their son Drew just turned 1 years old this May! Cortney will be coaching the junior groups this summer!
Coach Mykenzie is new to NWSC this summer. She is a first-year pharmacy student at The Ohio State University. She grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she began swimming in first grade. Mykenzie swam collegiately at Indiana State University. While at ISU, she coached a local club team, gaining experience coaching all ages and levels of comfort in the water. No matter what state she lives in, the pool will always be her home. She looks forward getting to know everyone and to continue her passion for swimming. Mykenzie will be coaching the senior and junior groups this summer!
Coach Ann grew up at NWSC spending every summer by the pool and participating on the swimming and diving teams. She also swam for Upper Arlington Swim Club’s USA team and at Bishop Watterson. After college Ann was an assistant coach for the Watterson Swim Team. During the summer you can find her hanging out at the pool with her three children who all swim for the team and love the water as much as she does! In the off-season she works at St. Andrew’s as an educational aid. She is looking forward to a great season. Ann will be coaching the 9&10 Juniors and the 8&under junior group!
Sarah grew up swimming at NWSC! She swam year-round for OSSC and for her middle school and High school team of The Wellington School. Sarah just finished off her freshman year of college. You can find Sarah in the office working or up in the lifeguard chair in the summer. She is excited to coach the 8 & under group this summer!
